About this Site | May 1999 Internet Picks and reviews.
Hello. I put this site up for reviews about Internet Utilities and experiences. I will give reviews and answer questions regarding your internet experience. I currently have 5 years experience using the internet and my belief is, you get the best advice from the online community about the latest programs, utilities and commerce available from the net. The web site receives absolutly no compensation from anyone nor solicits products for vendors. |
The best upgrade I have done on the Internet so far is upgrading to Internet Explorer 5.0. I currently use a 56k modem and pages loaded much faster once I made the switch to IE5. I currently use a 200MMX homebuilt computer with WIN 98 and 64MB's of Ram. I use the Diamond 16mb video card so my video quality is outstanding. One of the best features I find from IE5 is being able to easily email web pages to friends by selecting mail and clicking send page. Outlook Express 5 is also a much better product with the upgrade and I am surprised that the print media hasnt reviewed the improvements. Check out the link below for upgrading your browser to IE5. My second pick is upgrading your Real Player to G2 with the Real Jukebox. I have used MusicMatch and Win Amp and this 128bit MP3 player is the best sounding mp3 player I have heard. Its still in beta but I found little wrong with it. Recording your CD's to MP3 is free with the Real Jukebox from Real Networks. Great value since Music Match charges you $29.99 to transfer your CD's to MP3. Check out the Download link below and enjoy great sounds from your computer.

Stock Picks and Hits: OK, so inflation fears have you down. Your afraid to see those big hits on the market and are on the sidelines? Its a buyer beware market and I totally suggest following the stock market for a year or 2 before making moves on it. Follow stocks that have good earnings on the Dow. Nasdaq stocks on the technology sector are simply now small plants growing. But, dont let the weeds kill ya. Weeds are simply those tech stocks that have very little growth potential and are only surving because of the IPO pyramiding. Lets look at the future of the Internet and thats Broadband. By 2001, 56k access will be simply referred to as snail access and its important to follow the tech sector that has a good hold on the high speed front. Many as myself feel that AOL's lack of a Broadband stratedgy is hurting its stock. I predicted that uneasiness last January and now since Steve Case and AOL are in Washington trying to slow down ATT I am convinced that AOL's broadband stratedgy is a bad one since Steve Case is bringing the government into the picture. I see this as a resort to slow down the growth of ATT. The picture is getting uglyier everyday and I wont be surprised if AOL loses a big share of its subscriber base and becomes a Prodigy Classic. Internet users are becomming much more sophisicated and may pull the plug on their AOL service since they give up usability over simplicity. Once you learn to play checkers, you are ready for chess. My stock pick for May is ATT. ("T" is their symble). ATT's court battle with AOL is just beginning, look for the winner to be ATT and the consumer will win big with cheaper prices for High Speed access. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth when Internet executives cry out for less government on the Internet and AOL wimps out and uses the government for poor business strategies. Small Cap Stock pick- UBET Here is a small cap player who will benefit greatly with Broadband. UBET.COM is a horseracing service on the Internet. You can view the oddsboard, watch and wager on your computer screen. Some have feared that the Kyl Bill now in the Senate may hurt the stock, actually, it wont effect UBET since they pool wagers into the host track and you are simply betting like you would be at an simalcast wagering facility. Currently UBET has put together an International Management team who will launch the network worldwide. UBET's organizers inveneted the totalization boards used at racetracks since 1980. The stock was trading at 3 bucks a year ago, now at 18 is a great buy. UBET has been accepted on Nasdaq and will graduate soon. Link for Ubet below.
